Olive oils with the HOP label: a good choice
HOP - Internationally operating olive oil panel of Eurofins Analytik GmbH
The HOP label: certified quality
You have chosen an olive oil with the HOP label. The HOP label is awarded to olive oils that have been tested by the German olive oil panel "Hanseatisches Olivenölpanel" of Eurofins Analytik GmbH. On this page, we explain what the label stands for and what it means.
Why should you look for our seal when buying olive oil?
The Eurofins Food & Feed Testing laboratories in Germany offer a comprehensive package for testing and improving the quality of olive oils. An olive oil with the HOP label has the following characteristics:
- High-quality flavour
- Stands for high quality
- Tested by the the internationally operating olive oil panel "Hanseatisches Olivenölpanel"
Why did we develop the HOP label?
Since almost all olive oils are labelled 'extra virgin olive oil' due to the low legal requirements, we want to make it easier for you to make the right choice. An olive oil with our HOP label stands for high quality. The HOP label makes it easier to recognise a flavourful olive oil of high quality. It also proves that the olive oil has been quality-tested, because the quality of an olive oil cannot be recognised by its price or other parameters, such as its origin.
Who carries out the quality inspection?
Our olive oil panel "Hanseatisches Olivenölpanel" (HOP) is an accredited panel officially recognised by the Hanseatic City of Hamburg in Germany and listed in the European list of recognised panels. This means that we meet strict requirements for the performance of sensory panels in the evaluation and classification of virgin olive oils. You can rely on the quality of our results.
What is tested?
During the quality inspection, various sensory and chemical parameters are checked and only if these high standards are met an olive oil receives our HOP label. Click here for more detailed information on the parameters.
