Method Development and Validation

Sidebar Image

The Eurofins laboratory network for Food and Feed testing in Germany doesn’t only offer routine analyses at superior technical standards. Within competence centres, specialised laboratories are authorised for the new and continued development of methods and their validation. Newly developed methods are not only applied in the accredited laboratories, but are also accepted into national and international method collections.

In addition to in-house validations, special customer-tailored methods are developed for a wide range of questions.

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)

For the new approval of a genetically modified organism, specific detection methods are required in the EU and other countries. Eurofins GeneScan GmbH, the competence center of Eurofins Food & Feed Testing laboratories in Germany for GMO analysis, has developed these detection methods for years. By now, these methods belong to the standard of every GMO analysis lab.

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)

1H-NMR spectroscopy enables simultaneous analysis of almost all organic constituents of samples in high-throughput. Constituents and unknown compounds can be identified and quantified, and classification of samples (e.g. regarding authenticity or geographical origin) is rendered possible via multivariate analysis of the data. Eurofins Analytik GmbH offers extensive services to answer your questions with the aid of NMR (1H, 13C, COSY, TOCSY, HSQC, HMBC,…).

DNA Extraction

Eurofins GeneScan GmbH has lots of experience with the extraction of DNA from complex sample materials. Whether small or large scale, for a small number of samples or high-throughput analysis: a careful development of DNA extraction and purification methods guarantees optimal results for subsequent analysis steps.

Residual DNA

Food enzymes and additives, flavourings, dietary supplements as well as feed additives require approvals in the EU. Within the context of this approval, the amount of residual DNA for substances derived from genetically modified microorganisms (GMMOs) must be detected using PCR. Eurofins GeneScan develops PCR systems which fulfill all the requirements of the regulatory authorities.
