Webinar: Upcoming ban of bisphenol A in the EU
Background, regulations, affected products and analytical services at Eurofins
In June 2024, the European Commission adopted a draft regulation to ban the use of bisphenol A and other bisphenols and bisphenol derivatives in food contact materials. This will be included as an amendment to Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 on food contact materials when it is published and will cover not only plastic materials but also a wide range of other materials and articles in contact with food. The current specific migration limit (SML) for bisphenol A of 0.05 mg/kg will therefore be abolished when it comes into force.
As specific requirements for Bisphenol A in food are not in place there is reason for fear that a zero tolerance for any Bisphenol A finding is approaching.
Let us bring you up to date and tell you which product groups may be particularly affected.
