New opportunities for source identification and assessment of toxicity of mineral oil contaminations

Mineral oil analysis is a complex and extremely dynamic field in the area of contaminant analysis. While LC-GC-FID analysis is state-of-the-art for the quantification of mineral oil, questions regarding the toxicity evaluation of the MOAH fraction as well as the elucidation of the source of the contamination often remain unanswered after LC-GC-FID analysis.

The new two-dimensional GCxGC-ToF-MS can provide a couple of advantages when used as a qualitative confirmation of LC-GC-FID analysis, e.g. the potential identification of the source of the mineral oil contamination as well as the identification of the number of aromatic rings as a basis for the toxicological assessment.

In this webinar we will give you an overview of the new MOSH/MOAH source identification opportunity via GCxGC-ToF-MS and how we can support you in analysing and assessing the toxicity of mineral oil contaminants.

Webinar content

  • Short introduction into mineral oil background and analysis
  • Current regulatory status in the EU
  • Why GCxGC-ToF-MS is needed for mineral oil characterisation, for source identification and toxicological assessment
  • Examples for opportunities and limitations of GCxGC-ToF-MS
