EU Commission approved several genetically modified organisms (GMOs)
More new EU approvals for gm-maize granted on 16 October 2023
Dec 2023 (Update). On 16 October 2023, the European Commission granted further new approvals for genetically modified maize for use in food and feed in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council or extended their current approvals.
The decisions on the new approvals and for the renewed approvals were published in the Official Journal of the EU No. L on 17 October 2023.
In particular the following GMOs were newly approved:

The authorisation and renewal decisions apply to food and feed for import and processing, but do not cover cultivation. As for all GMOs approved in the EU, these GMOs will be subject to mandatory labelling in food and feed after approval.
Current approval situation
This year, on 24 February and 21 June, the EU Commission also approved four GMOs for use as food and feed and renewed the approvals for a total of five GMOs.
